MINNETONKA PARKS
The City of Minnetonka oversees and maintains 5 community parks and 44 neighborhood parks. The city also provides support for another 96 sites and 17 athletic fields, 10 hockey rinks and 10 pleasure skate rinks in the winter. The city of Minnetonka has a vast amount of park land available for public use and enjoyment.
MINNETONKA TRAILS
The city of Minnetonka also has over 81 miles of trails and sidewalks available for walking, running and biking. The city keeps around 35 miles of trails and 10 miles of sidewalks open year round come snow, rain or shine. These trails include the 40 mile Loop Trail Corridor System which has been planned, developed and is maintained by the city. The voters of Minnetonka approved a 15 million dollar bond referendum to develop recreation like the corridor, renew the city parks and preserve open space for all to enjoy. Because of this the parks are modern and a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Take a look at some of the outdoor activities available for residents of Minnetonka.

SHADY OAKS BEACH
Experience and enjoy the summer season at Shady Oak Beach in Minnetonka. This facility which is owned by the City of Hopkins, and operated by the City of Minnetonka’s Recreation Department.
This area offers 76′ of sandy beach shoreline and clear spring-fed waters. There is a daily fee but a seasonal membership is available.

BIG WILLOW PARK
Big Willow Park’s 95 acres make it the smallest of the city’s five community parks. Big Willow’s enticing features include views of Minnehaha Creek, expansive open spaces and extensive trails along with community athletic fields and a play area. More than two miles of formal trails and other paths meander through the park, with the northern section of the park a natural area with trail connections to Mayflower, Hilloway and Meadow parks.

CIVIC CENTER PARK
Civic Center Park serves both neighborhood and community needs. Located along Minnehaha Creek, it is home to Minnetonka city hall, community center, fire station #1, police station, two ice arenas, and several events, including the Minnetonka Summer Festival (June), Minnetonka Farmers’ Market (July–September), and Minnetonka Fire Department and City Open House (October).

LONE LAKE
Located in the southeast corner of Minnetonka, Lone Lake Park’s 146 acres serve as a community park with tennis and basketball courts, athletic fields, horseshoes, picnic shelters and play areas, as well as a natural open space. Park features include views of Lone Lake from the shore and dock; expansive open space; and nearly two miles of formal trails, including a 1.2-mile loop from the lower main parking lot that offers scenic views of the various ecological areas in the park, including wetlands, woodlands and prairies.

MEADOW PARK
Meadow offers a balance between active, passive and preserve uses. Active amenties located on the western ten acres include playground equipment, hardcourt, tennis courts, two hockey rinks and an informal baseball field. During the summer months, there is a seven-week playground program. During the winter the park offers a warming house and hockey rinks (weather dependent). Passive users of the park can enjoy its trails system and sitting/viewing areas. With more than 100 natural acres within its boundaries, it is a beautiful preserve site.

PURGATORY PARK
Purgatory Park’s 155 acres makes it the largest of the city’s five community parks. Park features include views of Purgatory Creek, expansive open spaces and extensive trails. More than two miles of formal trails are connected with the park, including a 1.2-mile loop from the parking lot that offers scenic views of the various ecological areas in the park: wetlands, woodlands and prairies.
