Gray's Bay in the City of Minnetonka

While Minnetonka shares its name with the very popular Lake Minnetonka, the city of Minnetonka includes only one small bay of the lake which is Gray’s Bay The bay forms the headwaters of Minnehaha Creek. The bay has four develoments in our neighborhood section if you are interested in moving to beautiful area.

Boat Slip Rental
Boat slips will be leased to Minnetonka residents only, including residents of rental properties, with one application accepted per residence. The city of Minnetonka must be the principle place of residence and applicant must reside at the residence listed on the application. Registration of the boat moored in the slip must match the name and address of the applicant to whom the slip is leased.
Public Acces
Gray’s Bay Public Access, located at the corner of County Road 101 South and Gray’s Bay Boulevard, was acquired by the city of Minnetonka in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Hennepin County, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, city of Wayzata, and the Gray’s Bay Task Force.

The site itself is owned by the Department of Natural Resources, while the city of Minnetonka owns the fuel system, permanent docks and the building (including an office, vending, and public restrooms). The DNR and the city entered into a cooperative operations agreement to jointly manage the site, with the city acting as on-site manager.
Amenities include a parking lot with 112 vehicle-with-trailer spaces and 21 vehicle-only spaces, three launch lanes and 29 permanent boat slips. Of the 21 vehicle-only spaces, 14 are reserved for boat slip holders.
The operating season is approximately April 1 to October 31, weather and ice-out dates permitting. During the season, the facility may be used 24 hours a day.
